Alleys and streets of Kings Lynn.

I love narrow alleyways and cobbled streets from yester year.

I really enjoy walking around towns looking for old streets, walls, patterns, interesting scenes for street photography, you name it I like taking photos of it.

Having a small camera with full manual controls that I can fit in my pocket, ok large coat pocket but a pocket none the less, really opens up opportunities for photography as I can always carry a camera with little effort.

Laura and I go to Kings Lynn most Saturdays to have a look around the shops usually followed by a burger and pint at The Globe............mmmm Beer Burger!

So usually walking from or back to the car I go on a detour looking for things to shoot.

There's some really old buildings in Kings Lynn which have some great details and textures, the weather has turned recently into Autumn/Winter mode which helps with my grimy dark style of images.

Devil's Alley has some old story about the Devils footprint being seen there back in the day, believe what you like it makes for good photography.

Around this part of Lynn all the houses have old wooden style doors.

On a particularly wet day I was lucky enough to see this rainbow reflected in a puddle the size of a small lake. There was a wedding party close by, if only the photographer new about the rainbow he would of got some great photos, you snooze you lose, im afraid.

Down a alley close to the Globe Hotel is the Ferry Port, I caught these people waiting for the ferry to arrive; it made for a great photo due to the storm clouds in the background.

And this is what was behind me; nice and dark.

Coming soon are photos taken in the old alleys behind the Crescent in Wisbech and street photography taken around Wisbech including a man in a bin!

From the streets of Norwich and Great Yarmouth. Yeah on the streets!

This is the 2nd instalment of photos from my few days away out in Norfolk; Norwich and Yarmouth.

These ones are ; Street Photography and Street Art.

Street Photography, on Wikipedia, is described as; "Street photography is photography that features the human condition within public places and does not necessitate the presence of a street or even the urban environment. The subject of the photograph might be absent of people and can be an object or environment where the image projects a decidedly human character in facsimile or aesthetic."

Everyone knows what Street Art is, think Banksy, think posh graffiti.

The Bicycle Shop, Norwich, doesn't sell bicycles......crazy!

Say no more
Something worth looking at

Tune in next time.

Converse(ation) in Great Yarmouth

See what I did there? I haven't just miss spelt and used brackets all wily nilly for nothing.

We went to Norwich and Great Yarmouth, Norfolk last week for a few days. Plenty of photography happened so here's a few of the shots taken from those days.

My next blog posts will be about this trip but ill talk about different subjects in different posts.

Going for something a little different here, I focused on our shoes.

No.....I do not have a shoe or foot fetish!.............no thanks.

The first shots were taken during our favourite pastime; Bowlingo.
Fun for £1 each has got to be had.

ISO100, 96mm, f5.6, 1/80
ISO100, 105mm, f5.6, 1/80
The next which were both a laugh and real annoying to take were taken that night on my little Fuji X20 (that's what the man bag was for Matt).

These ones were taken by sitting on the floor, focusing, using the 10 second timer and then running into the shot. The annoying part came from getting in the right place and the focusing shifting.

ISO 320, 28mm f2.2, 1/6
ISO 320, 28mm f2.2, 1/20
ISO 320, 28mm f2.2, 1/30
ISO 320, 28mm f2.2, 1/18
We also gave all the passers by a smile as they all wondered what the hell we were doing.

And I was a little paranoid about leaving my camera on the floor and turning my back to it.

Thanks for looking.

Reflections

Im really bad at keeping up with updating this blog, I have images, themes, stories etc etc dating back from February that I still haven't shown.
I will get round to these eventually, I really should considering there was a job and ive been granted permission to share the photos on my blog, I need to get my priorities straight.

Weve had bad spells of weather recently over the past few weeks, actually is the weather ever that nice? Every time it rains enough to form some big puddles I really want to go out and find some reflections of buildings, people, flowers, you name it but then I look out the window and think "no way...its raining!"

Well, Laura and I had to go to Kings Lynn last weekend for a spot of shopping and ive now reached the stage where I really cant go anywhere without a camera. Thank goodness I bought the X20 last month as its almost pocketable (if I had a big pocket).

It had rained at dinner time so things were looking up!

Things were actually a let down as by the time i was ready to take photos all the puddles had dried up.

I grabbed a few shots of the Custom House; a subject covered thousands of times before.

This sign said something about a flood risk, I see the funny side as there was a puddle in front of it.

When in Alton Towers the week before i also took 2 other reflection based shots. No more photos taken on this day....come on.....its Alton Towers, i was so excited, even when standing in a queue for 2 hours.

Onwards and upwards, tune in next time. Thanks for looking.

Street art with the newest camera in my collection

Why oh why oh why did I want another camera when I already own so many, including some that are cool and one; the 5D which is amazing.

Well for a little while now I have coveted a smaller retro looking camera; the Fujifilm X20.

12MP, manual control, viewfinder, shoots RAW.....yes please!

Photo of the new toy, taken on my IPhone

I purchased the camera from WEX in Norwich on the way to Great Yarmouth, where we were staying for the weekend on good ol' British caravan holiday.

I chose to use this camera all weekend during my travels and walk abouts so I could get a good feel for it.

The images taken are not comparable to my 5D but I never expected them to be anyway. RAW images require sharpening and noise reduction to get the best of them.

For portability and ease of use thought this camera is awesome. There are 2 command dials and buttons to control everything you need such as focus point, white balance etc and a nice exposure compensation dial on the top.

The usual family holiday snaps were taken but otherwise I have enjoyed using this camera to capture buildings, signs and street art and a bit of street photography.

There's some good detail on the buildings along the sea front of Gt Yarmouth

The name of this place gets me every time

Artificial decay

On the way home from Yarmouth on Monday we stopped off in Norwich again for dinner. Obviously I had the camera hanging around my neck.

Ive noticed street art around Norwich before on previous shopping trips, once you start looking for it you find that it is all over the place. These pieces were on the way to our chosen eatery.

Street art can be found in your home towns.

At the beach

Even found in Wisbech, yesterday after my mortgage appointment.

Yes its a camera and im taking a photo.

This penguin was just up the road from the other.

One very cramped alley way

Thanks for looking.
